A Breath Between the Notes
Hi there!
It’s June 1st, and I’m sat in my small but cosy courtyard, lolly in hand, feet in my two-human-sized swimming pool, watching my furry friends run around chasing each other. Speaking of which, my small ginger friend fell into the pool and scratched a hole in it… yes, I did laugh. He learnt his lesson though! And I now possess the £15 Gorilla Tape that makes me feel very rich.
As I sit in this moment looking around, despite all the stresses I’ve faced this month, I feel an overwhelming amount of gratitude for this moment — which is exactly what I’ll be talking about in this month’s blog!
Grab a tea, some wine, or water if you fancy that, and relax while I excessively rant about gratitude :)
A few years ago, everything and everyone used to stress me out. Dropped some milk? Stress. Missed the bus? Stress. Woke up late? Stress. Queues, favourite snacks sold out, bills, money issues running through my eyeballs… enough, right?!
Then I discovered a book after my darling mother — being all motivational and wise — collected loads of spiritual guidance and “do this to be happy” books (which I now own most of lol). Anyway, I picked one up called The Universe Has Your Back by Gabby Bernstein. A proper guru in the spiritual happy-vibes world. Love her to this day.
But at first I thought, “Nah, I’m not reading all that rubbish.”
Honestly though, I didn’t really have anywhere else to throw all my problems. Nothing was magically going to solve itself, so I thought… fine. I could do with some new literature anyway!
After reading that book, my whole life changed. The whole universe side of it is another story entirely, but following the gratitude chapters I read… GOD, it suddenly made so much sense?!
When you spill milk or whatever the situation is, you get so uptight, right? You shout, scream, or like me, just cry for no reason sometimes. But if you take a minute to step back, breathe, and say, “I choose to see love here,” everything comes a little easier. Breathing scientifically calms you down, seeing love gives you a different and more pleasing perspective.
I know it might sound silly, but genuinely, me and my mum laugh about it all now. Anytime something happens — choose to see love!!
And obviously it doesn’t work every single time. You really can’t not get annoyed when your favourite snack is sold out on the shelf 😭 But it’s about taking that minute to step back and think, “I’m sure they’ll restock tomorrow,” or “I do have some ice cream or another snack at home.”
And if you don’t… fair enough 😂
But being grateful for what you do have is what’s important. Lie in bed at night and thank the universe — or God — for having a roof over your head, a bed to sleep in, food to eat, water to drink, and for simply being alive.
Like… your heart is constantly beating for 60–100 years straight. Non-stop. How mad is that?! At least say thank you to your body for that.
Honestly though, practising gratitude has genuinely changed my life. I feel grateful for everything now. No matter how bad my day is going, at least I’m alive. I’m eating, drinking, breathing. Someone out there is in a much worse position than me right now.
Just thank someone — or something — for what you do have.
Practising gratitude really will make a difference in your life, I promise. If you get angry, breathe, and ask yourself, “How could I turn this into a positive?” Then thank yourself for choosing love in that moment.
I hope this brought you some clarity. And if not, I still wish you the absolute best anyway :)
See you next month, my darlings!

Quote of the month:
Seeing love, opens a whole new world of light.
